About Girl Defined
In a Culture of Distortions, Discover God-Defined Womanhood and Beauty
In a culture where airbrushed models and career-driven women define beauty and success, it’s no wonder we have a distorted view of femininity. Our impossible standards place an incredible burden of stress on the backs of women and girls of all ages, resulting in anxiety, eating disorders, and depression. One question we often forget to ask is this: What is God’s design for womanhood?
In Girl Defined, sisters and popular bloggers Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird offer women a countercultural view of beauty, femininity, and self-worth. Based firmly in God’s design for their lives, this book helps women rethink what true success and beauty look like. It invites them on a liberating journey toward a radically better vision for femininity that ends with the discovery of the kind of hope, purpose, and fulfillment they’ve been yearning for.

C.S. Lewis once said, “God can’t give us peace and happiness apart from himself because there is no such thing.” That’s why Girl Defined is such an important book for today’s women. Modern culture pushes and pulls women in a million different directions in the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment, and none of them can deliver. Why? Because we were created on purpose, and when we ignore that original purpose, true, lasting happiness isn’t possible.
In their book, Girl Defined, Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird share their own personal journey’s to discovering God’s design for womanhood, as well as stories from the lives of other women. Their message is clear, God defined womanhood, and only when we learn to value what He values will we find true joy and lasting fulfillment. Backing up everything Scripture, Clark and Baird never leave you wondering if their words are personal opinions or God’s design.
While reading this book I experienced a wide range of emotions. I was jealous that these two women got to grow up in home that modeled biblical womanhood in such an obviously powerful way. I skeptical that the rest of us could benefit from the words of such sheltered women. I was angry living for God wasn’t easy and most women (especially myself) were already so far off base. I was convicted for how often I fail. But when it really came down to it, I was inspired. I was inspired to learn that living out God’s plan is not only possible, but happening. I found hope in the fact that with God all things are possible, and this book gave me a launching pad for change. That’s what this book is for me, a book of hope. Hope that it is possible to live for Jesus in the modern world. Hope that it’s not too late. Hope that you aren’t too far gone. Hope that you can do this. Hope that God is there to help. I highly recommend it for Christian women. No matter how many books you have read on biblical womanhood, no matter where you are in your walk with God, this book is a must.
