Unashamed: Healing Our Brokenness and Finding Freedom from Shame offers hope to those struggling under the burden of shame. Shame is something that I struggle with a lot. I am ashamed of what a failure I am. Wishing I could do better. I am ashamed that my house isn’t clean. I’m ashamed that I’m not more organized. And I’m ashamed to say that I put this book at the wrong spot in my reading list, and even though my review was due today, I have barely started reading it. Needless to say, it’s a book I definetly need to read. A friend of mine that has finished the book wrote that Heather “shines the life-giving light of the gospel on the things that leave us feeling worthless and rejected, directing our attention to the God who promises to forgive and restore us—no matter what.” (You can read her full review here)
I’ll update this post with my full review soon, but for now, I wanted to say that I absolutely love what I have read so far. Heather Davis Nelson is spot on with her definition of shame and I love her writing style.
