About The Biggest Story
The Animated Short Film: Featuring beautifully animated illustrations adapted from the book, The Biggest Story: The Animated Short Film will captivate children and parents alike as they see how all the classic stories in the Bible connect to Scripture’s overarching message about God’s glorious plan to redeem his rebellious people.
The Audio Book: This audio book of The Biggest Story—written and narrated also by the best-selling author Kevin DeYoung—leads kids and parents alike on an exciting journey through the Bible, connecting the dots from the garden of Eden to Christ’s death on the cross to the new heaven and new earth.
About the Author: Kevin DeYoung is senior pastor of University Reformed Church in East Lansing, MI, husband to Trisha, and father to seven children.
I requested to review this DVD and audio book after the pastor’s wife at my church raved about how much she and her daughter loved The Biggest Story. After watching the sample video that’s available on Vimeo (above), I was a little worried that my kids would be way too old for this. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. I put the DVD in to review while my kids were all off doing their own thing, and one-by-one they all migrated to the T.V. My 14-year-old and his best friend made a crack about it being for babies, but just one, and then they were both hooked. I don’t know that I would recommend this DVD for 14-year-olds, but they stood behind the couch and watched the whole thing. My 8-year-old twins plopped on the couch and watched it. When it was over they wanted to watch it again. They really thought it should have had a sequel and was entirely too short.
Long story short, the animated short film was a hit at my house. I was planning on donating it to a family with younger children, but my kids aren’t ready to let it go just yet.
